If you had a choice, which one would you choose, a good logo ora fabulous logo? Think about it for a second here, although Iknow the answer is crystal clear. Because many of us settle fora good logo created by a credible logo designer just because heor she is a credible logo designer who charges low prices. Forexample, I had a client who paid $500 for a normal-looking logowhich looked like something anyone else can come up with. Acouple of color changes to the logo, alteration of the logo textis inevitable and then maybe changing the alignment of the logohere and there….THAT’S IT! $500 per pop!!??
There are lots of reasons why we settle for a normal-looking orgood looking logo apart from price. One, it’s easy to change. Two, it’s uncomplicated. Three, the logo is simple enough. Butlet me tell you something about logos. You need a FABULOUSlogo….an OUT OF THIS WORLD logo, not just any logo, ok?
The size, the precision, the text, the symbol, the color, thefont, etc all counts towards bringing the attention of yourpotential customers towards your company, your image and yourbranding. Granted, most of the large International companieshave pretty simple logos and you’re thinking to yourself….that’sVERDANA font sent at size 12 and that logo is set at Myriad setat size 14……but every single one of those Internationallyrenowned brands and logos have their own specific fonts andsize, specific and exclusive color combinations and every singlesymbol and icons that are is used together with the logo has ameaning.
Whether you’re in a competitive industry or not, it doesn’tmatter. Whether your market is small or big, it doesn’t matter! The fact of the matter is that your customers DO remember youwhen they see your logo, regardless of how hard you try toconvince yourself otherwise. They won’t remember your logo now,but if they see it compared to others, they will be able to pickyour logo out among the lot! Trust me on this one because therehas been many researches and studies that has been done in thepast to back this logo fact up.
So, my advice is this….don’t skimp on your logo. Don’t pay forsomething that is below par and don’t pay below par forsomething recognizable. It’s a very fine balance, mind you, Iknow.
But if you want your logo to be recognized, here are some basicrules:- a.cheap logos are not everything b.template logos rarelywork c.don’t go for conventional text d.create a unique andspecial icon together with your logo e.include your website orcompany name in your logo f.create a colorful and yet peacefulcombination of colors with your logo g.don’t use more than 2 or3 colors in one logo h.have different logos for different brandsi.hire a logo designer with loads of experience…not paperqualifications j.before you decide on the logo, test it outk.have a tagline to go with the logo
Your logo says a lot about you so, don’t skimp
